CIMAS
REPORT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF 2008
Through our ever-changing exhibits, community focused events and archives facility the Cortes Island Museum & Archives Society (CIMAS) provides an important service to the Cortes community, through the preservation, documentation and presentation of our island’s unique history.
New signs this year announce our presence at corners around the island and there’s a sign on the big pole in front of the Museum as well as an interpretive sign welcoming visitors into the Heritage Garden. A huge effort to provide the poles came from Serge Laberge as well as Richard Lawton, who also dug the hole, put the poles together and hung the sign. Raising it all was done by David Rousseau’s crew working on the Seniors’ Housing and they provided a wheelbarrow full of concrete to set it in. Joe Jordan and Nick Reed provided help at different stages. It’s great when so many islanders with different expertise come together to get something done!
The past year was another exciting and successful one for the Museum. Please take a moment to review the highlights of our year.
