One adult Trumpeter Swan showed up at Swamp’s Edge on July 25th and decided to hang around.
The timing is very unusual : it is the first summer sighting of the species for Cortes Island. As far as I know, there is only one other unusual off-schedule record, and that one is for May.
The bird in question appears to be a non-breeding yearling, with hints of gray still visible on its back plumage.
