2nd June 2008

At 10:30 Monday morning June 2nd there were 4 pairs of Marbled Murrelets feeding simultaneously in front of our house on a super low tide! They were here the previous day too. This endangered species sighting was located on east side of Cortes Island (facing Desolation Sound) 1 kilometer south of the General Store along Squirrel Cove Shores. We can also see lots of small feeder fish jumping on the surface -- perhaps a school of smelt or herring or sandlance above the oysterbeds.
