The past year was a busy one for the Cortes Island Museum and Archives Society. Volunteers worked on many projects including a new display featuring Von Donop Creek, the creation of a replica old-time logging shed in the museum yard, the heritage garden, building renovations, the outreach program “Walks and Talks”, and the processing of archival records. As part of the Von Donop Creek display two events were hosted. The first was a meeting of former loggers to record their stories and logging techniques as well as the economics of logging during that period. The second event was an opening for museum members and the former Von Donop Creek residents who returned to the island for an afternoon of reacquainting and reminiscences.
