SOS - Save Our Shores
These Endangered Species sightings just received from Squirrel Cove Shores Sept 23: a pair of enormous Northern Stellar Sea Lions cruising along the beach on high tide.

This confirms an earlier recording from eco-tourists April 2/2006 “ We all had a fabulous week. The ever-changing view of the sea and mountains hypnotized us each day. We caught a feast of fish – rockfish & salmon. We saw a huge sea lion slowly swim by, an otter and porpoise too…hope to come back again soon.” – Matt & Carole from Vancouver, Ernest & Yvette from France.

July 23/06: "What a fabulous spot. I loved hearing the waves lapping under our bedroom window and the loons calling. Saw lots of wildlife, including 2 adult otters and their 2 young travelling the beach.” – Carrie & Bill from England

August 19/06: "We feel rejouvenated by our explorations – by kayak of Refuge Cove, Squirrel Cove, and down towards Seaford – by foot of Von Donop Inlet and the spectacular Easter Bluff. The most wonderful thing has been mornings quiet on the deck, returning evenings watching the loons, seeing a Marbled Murrelet battle a Bonapart Gull for smelt…” – Jean & Lois from Seattle

September 4/2006: "We are coming into our last full day on the island, enjoying another quiet morning, watching the sun rise above the mountains and the loons dive in the waters.” - Anne & Family from Port Angeles
