I have heard several reports of a Sandhill Crane visiting gardens in the Potlatch-Smelt Bay area. I have not seen it myself. If anyone has a photo, please post it.

Here is a good website about Sandhill Cranes:

A few tidbits from this website:

* Sandhill Cranes are the most abundant of the world’s cranes with about 650,000 birds

* Sandhill Cranes are structurally identical to a 10 million year old fossil making it the oldest known bird species still surviving.

* Sandhill Crane populations in this part of Canada have been expanding rapidly recently.
